POST Message 301 303 601 602 Description A failure occurred during testing of the keyboard and keyboard controller. These error messages also might be accompanied by continuous beeping. Action: Ensure that: 1. Nothing is resting on the keyboard and pressing a key. 2. No key is stuck. 3. The keyboard cable is securely attached to the keyboard connector on the computer. (For the location of the keyboard connector, refer to "Connectivity" on page 10.) Note: If you have just connected a new mouse or other pointing device, turn off the computer and disconnect that device. Wait at least 5 seconds, and then turn on the computer. If the error message goes away, replace the device. If the error message remains, have the keyboard and cable or the computer serviced. A failure occurred during testing of the diskette drive and diskette-drive controller. This error can be caused by a loose or incorrectly connected cable, a failing drive, or a failing system board. Note: The computer can be used, but one or more diskette drives might not work. Action: Verify that all diskette drive cables are properly installed and securely connected. Running the diagnostic programs might isolate the diskette drive that failed, but you must have your computer serviced. (See "Diagnostic Programs" on page 99 for information about diagnostic programs provided with your computer.) The computer is not able to start the diskette in the drive. The diskette might be damaged or formatted incorrectly. Action: Try another startable diskette that is formatted correctly and is in good condition. (For information and instructions on formatting diskettes, refer to Understanding Your Personal Computer and your operating-system documentation.)
