Page 51 highlights

Chapter 3. Configuring the server The following configuration programs come with the server: v Configuration/Setup Utility program The Configuration/Setup Utility program is part of the basic input/output system (BIOS). Use it to configure serial port assignments, change interrupt request (IRQ) settings, change the startup-device sequence, set the date and time, and set passwords. For information about using this program, see "Using the Configuration/Setup Utility program" on page 38. v Lenovo EasyStartup DVD This bootable DVD automatically launches the ThinkServer EasyStartup program, which simplifies the process of installing an operating system and device drivers on your server. The ThinkServer EasyStartup program prompts you for information required by the operating system for installation, prepares the hard disk, prompts you to insert your operating system installation disc (CD or DVD), and launches an unattended installation of the operating system. For additional information, see the RS110 Installation Guide . v LSI Logic Configuration Utility program Use the LSI Logic Configuration Utility program to configure devices that are attached to the SAS/SATA controller. For information about using this program, see "Using the LSI Logic Configuration Utility program" on page 44. Important: If the server is a simple-swap SATA model that contains a SATA RAID back plate, you can use the LSI Logic Configuration Utility program to configure the simple-swap SATA hard disk drives. The following table lists the different server configurations and the applications that are available for configuring and managing RAID arrays. Table 4. Configuration and management applications for RAID arrays Server configuration RAID array configuration (before operating system is installed) Integrated SATA and no SAS controller card None installed SAS/SATA controller card (LSI 1064) installed LSI Logic Configuration Utility (Ctrl+C during server startup) ServeRAID-MR10i adapter installed (2.5-inch BIOS Configuration/Setup Utility program drive models only) (Ctrl+A during server startup) v Baseboard management controller utility programs Use these programs to configure the baseboard management controller, to update the firmware and sensor data record/field replaceable unit (SDR/FRU) data, and to remotely manage a network. For information about using these programs, see "Using the baseboard management controller" on page 45. v Ethernet controller configuration For information about configuring the Ethernet controllers, see "Configuring the Gigabit Ethernet controllers" on page 46. © Lenovo 2008, 2009.
