Replacing the card reader Attention Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the "Important safety information" in the ThinkCentre Safety and Warranty Guide that came with your computer. To obtain a copy of the ThinkCentre Safety and Warranty Guide, go to: http://www.lenovo.com/support This section provides instructions on how to replace the card reader. To replace the card reader, do the following: 1. Open the computer cover. See "Opening the computer cover" on page 126. 2. Pivot the drive bay assembly upward to gain access to the card reader. See "Accessing the system board components and drives" on page 127. 3. Locate the card reader. 4. Disconnect the card reader cable from the front USB connector on the system board. See "Locating parts on the system board" on page 129. Note: Make sure you note the location and routing of the cable when you disconnect the cable from the connector on the system board. 5. Remove the screw that secures the card reader to the chassis. Figure 63. Removing the securing screw of the card reader 6. Remove the card reader from the chassis. 7. Install a new card reader into the chassis and align the screw hole in the new card reader with the hole in the chassis. 8. Install the screw to secure the new card reader to the chassis. 9.
