Quick Start Taking Still Pictures Shake Reduction preview button Power switch Shutter release button 2 Zoom button Quick Start OK/Display button Green button The simplest procedure for taking still pictures is described below. The flash discharges automatically depending on the light conditions. 1 Press the power switch. The camera turns on. 2 Compose the picture on the LCD 36 monitor. The camera AF will focus on the area within the focus frame. Press the zoom button to change the size of the subject. Zoom button(x) : Enlarges the subject. Zoom button (w) : Diminishes the subject. While the Face Priority is set to On, a yellow 01/15/2008 12:00 Focus frame focus frame appears on the subject's face when the camera recognizes it. The position and the size of the frame change while the camera continues to adjust the focus on the moving subject. 3 Press the shutter release button halfway. The focus frame on the LCD monitor will light green when the camera is in focus. When [Shake Reduction] is set to [O On], (Shake Reduction On) appears on the LCD monitor. To take the picture compensating for camera shake, go to step 4 after is displayed. 4 Press the shutter release button fully. The picture is taken. The image appears on the LCD monitor for 0.5 seconds (Instant Review). The image is recorded on the SD Memory Card installed in the camera, or in the built-in memory of the camera. 33
