Listening to your system 07 English Français Deutsch Italiano Español Nederlands Chapter 7 Listening to your system Important • The listening modes and many features described in this section may not be available depending on the current source, settings and status of the system. Selecting Listening mode Various listening modes are available for enjoyment of diverse sound effects and for sound field correction according to your preference. The best listening mode may vary, depending on the model. In order to ascertain the best settings for your listening conditions, use of the Auto MCACC function is recommended. • HTP-710/HTP-610/HTP-SB510 model Select one listening mode from the surround sound mode. See Listening in surround sound below. • HTP-FS510 model Select one listening mode from the Front Stage Surround Advance mode. See Using Front Stage Surround Advance on page 65. • When optional speakers are connected, select one listening mode from the surround sound mode. See Listening in surround sound below. Auto playback The simplest, most direct listening option is the Auto Surround feature. With this, the system automatically detects what kind of source you're playing and selects multichannel or stereo playback as necessary.1 • While listening to a source, press AUTO/ DIRECT2 for auto playback of a source. Press repeatedly until AUTO SURROUND shows briefly in the display (it will then show the decoding or playback format). Check the digital format indicators in the display to see how the source is being processed. Listening in surround sound For HTP-710/HTP-610/HTP-SB510: Using this system, you can listen to any source in surround sound. However, the options available will depend on your speaker setup and the type of source you're listening to. The following modes provide basic surround sound for stereo and multichannel sources. Note 1 Stereo surround (matrix) formats are decoded accordingly using NEO:6 CINEMA or DOLBY PLII MOVIE (see Listening in surround sound above for more on these decoding formats). 2 For more options using this button, see Using Stream Direct on page 65. 63 En
