Checking the focus You can focus with the following methods. • AF (Auto Focus) : The camera is focused when the shutter release button is pressed halfway. • MF (Manual Focus) : Manually adjust the focus. Using Autofocus You can choose the autofocus mode from SAF (Single mode) where the shutter release button is pressed halfway to focus on the subject and the focus is locked at that position, and CAF (Continuous mode) where the subject is kept in focus by continuous adjustment while the shutter release button is pressed halfway. 1. Set the focus mode lever to SAF or CAF. 2. Look through the viewfinder and press the shutter release button halfway. The focus indicator ( ) appears in the viewfinder when focused (if focus indicator ( ) is blinking, the subject is not in focus). Focus indicator ● The camera can be focused by pressing the AF button. ● In SAF (Single mode), the focus is locked (focus lock) while focus indicator ( ) is lit. To focus on another subject, take your finger off the shutter release button first. ● In CAF (Continuous mode), focus is adjusted continuously, tracking the moving object as long as the shutter release button is kept pressed halfway. ● The shutter cannot be released until the subject is in focus in SAF (Single mode). If the subject is too close to the camera, move back and take the picture. Adjust the focus manually if the subject is difficult to focus. ● If you try to focus on your subject in a too dark place, multiple flash fires simultaneously on half shutter. (You need to pop up the built-in flash and set the auto focusing mode to SAF (Single mode) before shooting.) ● Use the matte field in the viewfinder when the subject is difficult to focus and the focus indicator will not stay lit. 040

Checking the focus
You can focus with the following methods.
AF
(Auto Focus)
: The camera is focused when the shutter release button is
pressed halfway.
MF
(Manual Focus) : Manually adjust the focus.
Using Autofocus
You can choose the autofocus mode from
SAF
(Single mode) where the shutter
release button is pressed halfway to focus on the subject and the focus is locked
at that position, and
CAF
(Continuous mode) where the subject is kept in focus
by continuous adjustment while the shutter release button is pressed halfway.
