Troubleshooting Guide The following checks will assist in the correction of most problems which you may encounter with your system. Before going through the check list below. first check the following points. • The power cord must be connected firmly •The speaker connection must also be firm. Should any problem persist after you have made these checks. consult your nearest Sony dealer. - Radio Reception thectont The TIMED indicator flashes. The STEREO indicator flashes. Severe hum or noise occurs. Stereo programs cannot be received in stereo. Cause (and Remedy) • Adjust the antenna. • • Adjust the antenna. • Adjust the antenna. • The signal stages is too weak. Connect an external antenna. (See page S.) • Connect a ground wire. • You may hear sane noise when you press OPEN/CLOSE fit of the CD player. • Press ST/MONO so that - STEAMY' disappears. (See page 27.) Cassette Deck Operation sinew' Recording cannot be done. Recording or playback cannot be done or there is a decrease in sound level. Excessive wow or flutter, or sound drop-out. Insufficient erasure occurs. Increase of noise or erase of high frequencies occurs. Cause (and Remedy) • No cassette in the cassette holder. • The tab is missing from the cottage. (See page 32.) • The tape is wound completely. • Dirty heads. (See page 50.) • Magnetic build-up on the record/playback heads. (See page 50.) • Contamination of the capstans or pinch rollers.
