Getting Started 8: Adjusting the speaker levels and balance (TEST TONE) You can adjust the speaker levels and balance while listening to the test tone from your listening position. Tip The receiver employs a test tone with a frequency centered at 800 Hz. - /- - CLEAR >10 DISPLAY 0/10 ENTER MEMORY TOOLS V 2-5 B < B MASTER VOL +/- v RETURN/ EXIT MENU AMP 1 - CATEGORY + REPLAY ADVANCE .< > TUNING - TUNING + m H M DISC SKIP X x TV VOL TV CH MASTER VOL PRESET MUTING 1 Press AMP, then press MENU. "1-LEVEL SET" appears on the display. 2 Press the control button or control button b to enter the menu. 3 Press control button V/v repeatedly to select "TEST TONE". 4 Press the control button or control button b to enter the parameter. 5 Press control button V/v repeatedly to select "TEST TONE YES". The test tone is output from each speaker in sequence as follows: Front left t Center t Front right t Surround right t Surround back right* t Surround back left* t Surround left t Sub woofer *You will only hear the test tone from the - surround back left and right speakers when surround back speaker selection is set to "DUAL". -surround back left speaker when surround back speaker selection is set to "SINGLE". 6 Adjust the speaker levels and balance using the LEVEL menu so that the level of the test tone sounds the same from each speaker. For details, see "Adjusting the level (LEVEL menu)" (page 51). Tips • To adjust the level of all speakers at the same time, press MASTER VOL +/-. You can also use MASTER VOLUME on the receiver. • The adjusted value are shown on the display during adjustment. 7 Repeat steps 1 to 5 to select "TEST TONE NO". The test tone turns off. 39US
