4 Replacement Procedures 4.16 Thermal Module 4.16 Thermal Module Removing the Thermal Module To remove the thermal module, first remove the system board, then follow the steps below: 1. Remove four M2.5x3 screws from the thermal module. 2. Pry off the thermal module while being careful of the thermal grease. Figure 4-34 Removing the thermal module NOTE: After you remove the thermal module, you should use the CPU grease tool to remove the grease on the CPU and thermal module. Be sure to replace the thermal grease on the CPU when you reinstall it. Installing the Thermal Module To install the thermal module, follow the steps below and refer to the figures in the preceding section. 1. Restore the thermal grease to the top of the CPU. 2. 4.16 Thermal Module
Removing the Thermal Module
To remove the thermal module, first remove the system board, then follow the steps below:
1.
Remove four M2.5x3 screws from the thermal module.
2.
Pry off the thermal module while being careful of the thermal grease.

NOTE: After you remove the thermal module, you should use the CPU grease tool to remove
the grease on the CPU and thermal module. Be sure to replace the thermal grease on the CPU
when you reinstall it.
Installing the Thermal Module
To install the thermal module, follow the steps below and refer to the figures in the preceding
section.
1.
Restore the thermal grease to the top of the CPU.
2.
Seat the thermal module, then secure it with four M2.5x3 screws.
