2.5 FDD Troubleshooting 2 Troubleshooting Procedures Procedure 3 Connector Check and Replacement Check The 3.5inch FDD is connected to the System Board via USB port. Check 1 Make sure the USB cable is securely connected to the FDD. Also, make sure the USB cable of the FDD is securely connected to the connector PJ4600 or PJ4601 on the system board. If any of the connections are loose, reconnect firmly and repeat Procedure 2. If any connector is damaged, replace it with a new one and repeat Procedure 2. If there is still an error, go to Check 2. Check 2 The FDD cable may be defective or damaged. Replace it with a new one. If the FDD is still not functioning properly, perform Check 3. Check 3 Replace the System board with a new one following the steps in Chapter 4, Replacement Procedures. Satellite A40 Maintenance Manual (960-458) 2-37
