Setting up for communications 83 3 Close the disc tray by pressing gently on the center of the tray until it clicks indicating that it is locked. Caring for CDs and DVDs ❖ Store your discs in their original containers to protect them from scratches and keep them clean. ❖ Never bend a disc or place heavy objects on top of it. ❖ Hold a disc by its outside edge. Fingerprints on the surface of a compact disc can prevent the drive from reading the data properly. ❖ Avoid exposing discs to direct sunlight or extreme heat or cold. ❖ To clean a disc, wipe it from the center outwards (not in a circle) with a clean, dry cloth. If necessary, moisten the cloth with water or a neutral cleaner (not benzine or rubbing alcohol). Let the disc dry completely before inserting it in the drive. Setting up for communications To communicate across the telephone lines with another computer, you need: ❖ The computer's modem ❖ A telephone line ❖ An Internet Service Provider (ISP) To connect to the Internet, you need a Web browser, such as Microsoft® Internet Explorer. NOTE To stay current on the most recent software and hardware options for your computer, and for other product information, be sure to regularly check the Toshiba Web site at accessoryfinder.toshiba.com.
