Playing the Demo Song This section explains how to play the demo song using the UW500, included sequence software "XGworks" and SoftSynthesizer "S-YXG50." Connect the headphones to the PHONES jack (page 12) and powered speakers to the OUTPUT jacks (page 14). Before connecting, be sure to lower the OUTPUT knob to minimum. 2. Turn the OUTPUT knob to the ON position to turn on the power to the UW500. Set the OUTPUT knob to the minimum position (just above the ON label). 3. Start XGworks. From the [Start] menu, select [Programs] → [YAMAHA XGworks lite Ver. 3.0] → [XGworks]. 4. From the [Setup] menu, select [System Setup] to display the Device page of the system setup dialog. 5. Click the [MIDI OUT 1] box to display the pop-up menu and select an appropriate device. Select "YAMAHA SXG Driver" to use SoftSynthesizer. Select "YAMAHA USB OUT 0-1" to use an external MIDI sound source connected to the MIDI IN terminal. Select "YAMAHA USB OUT 0-2" to use an external MIDI sound source connected 32 to the TO TG terminal.
