Hard Disk Recording You can record to hard disk using the UW500, the included sequence software (XGworks), and SoftSynthesizer (S-YXG50). The following section explains basic connections and procedures for recording guitar digitally to XGworks, then mastering it to a digital recorder (such as an MD recorder). Connect the guitar or guitar effect unit to the INPUT 1 or 2 jack using a shielded guitar cable (with standard plugs). Connect the headphones to the PHONES jack (page 12), or the powered speakers to the OUTPUT jacks (page 14). If you are using an external MIDI tone generator, connect it to the UW500's MIDI OUT terminal or the TO TG terminal (page 21). Connect the UW500's AUX IN jacks to the OUTPUT jacks of the tone generator. Before connecting, be sure to turn off the power to the UW500. NOTE If you wish to record your vocal and guitar accompaniment to separate files, connect the guitar and microphone to the INPUT 1 and 2 jacks and record them in stereo. Later, you can separate these into monaural Wave files using TWE. 2. Turn on the power to the UW500 by rotating the OUTPUT knob to the "ON" position. Lower the OUTPUT knob setting to minimum (just above the "ON" position). 34

You can record to hard disk using the UW500, the included sequence software
(XGworks), and SoftSynthesizer (S-YXG50). The following section explains basic
connections and procedures for recording guitar digitally to XGworks, then mastering
it to a digital recorder (such as an MD recorder).

Recording guitar sounds digitally

Connect the guitar or guitar effect unit to the INPUT 1 or 2 jack using a
shielded guitar cable (with standard plugs).
Connect the headphones to the PHONES jack (page 12), or the powered
speakers to the OUTPUT jacks (page 14).
If you are using an external MIDI tone generator, connect it to the
UW500’s MIDI OUT terminal or the TO TG terminal (page 21). Connect
the UW500’s AUX IN jacks to the OUTPUT jacks of the tone generator.
Before connecting, be sure to turn off the power to the UW500.
