Chapter 7 WAN The following table describes the labels in this screen. Table 40 Network > WAN > Internet Connection: PPPoE Encapsulation LABEL DESCRIPTION ISP Parameters for Internet Access Connection Type Select PPP over Ethernet if you connect to your Internet via dial-up. Service Name Type the PPPoE service name provided to you. PPPoE uses a service name to identify and reach the PPPoE server. User Name Type the user name given to you by your ISP. Password Type the password associated with the user name above. Retype to Confirm Type your password again to make sure that you have entered is correctly. MTU Size Enter the MTU or the largest packet size per frame that your NBG-416N can receive and process. Nailed-Up Connection Select Nailed-Up Connection if you do not want the connection to time out. Idle Timeout This value specifies the time in minutes that elapses before the router automatically disconnects from the PPPoE server. DNS Servers First DNS Server If you do not configure a DNS server, you must know the IP address of a computer in order to access it. Second DNS Server Select From ISP if your ISP dynamically assigns DNS server information (and the NBG-416N's WAN IP address). The field to the right displays the (read-only) DNS server IP address that the ISP assigns. WAN MAC Address Factory default Clone the computer's MAC address Set WAN MAC Address Apply Reset Select User-Defined if you have the IP address of a DNS server. Enter the primary and secondary DNS server's IP address in the fields to the right. The MAC address section allows users to configure the WAN port's MAC address by using the NBG-416N's MAC address, copying the MAC address from a computer on your LAN or manually entering a MAC address. Select Factory default to use the factory assigned default MAC Address. Select this option to clone the MAC address of the computer (displaying in the screen) from which you are configuring the NBG-416N. It is advisable to clone the MAC address from a computer on your LAN even if your ISP does not presently require MAC address authentication. Select this option and enter the MAC address you want to use. Click Apply to save your changes back to the NBG-416N. Click Reset to begin configuring this screen afresh. 96 NBG-416N User's Guide

The following table describes the labels in this screen.

Service Name

Type the PPPoE service name provided to you. PPPoE uses a service

name to identify and reach the PPPoE server.

User Name

Type the user name given to you by your ISP.

Password

Type the password associated with the user name above.

Retype to

Type your password again to make sure that you have entered is

correctly.

MTU Size

Enter the MTU or the largest packet size per frame that your NBG-416N

can receive and process.
