CHAPTER 6 Broadband 6.1 Overview This chapter discusses the VMG's Broadband screens. Use these screens to configure your VMG for Internet access. A WAN (Wide Area Network) connection is an outside connection to another network or the Internet. It connects your private networks, such as a LAN (Local Area Network) and other networks, so that a computer in one location can communicate with computers in other locations. Figure 16 LAN and WAN WAN 6.1.1 What You Can Do in this Chapter • Use the Broadband screen to view, remove or add a WAN interface. You can also configure the WAN settings on the VMG for Internet access (Section 6.2 on page 61). • Use the 3G Backup screen to configure 3G WAN connection (Section 6.3 on page 70). • Use the Advanced screen to enable or disable PTM over ADSL, Annex M/Annex J, and DSL PhyR functions (Section 6.4 on page 74). • Use the 802.1x screen to view and configure the IEEE 802.1X settings on the VMG (Section 6.5 on page 76).
