The controller must have its own IP address in each VLAN which it is to serve. Strictly speaking, it does not matter which IP address this is in the subnet as long as there is no conflict with another unit, but it is a good rule to use the first available after the router's address. The screen shot shows a typical configuration for such a virtual interface. 3.2.2 Defining a RADIUS server Path: Security → RADIUS → Authentication It is advisable to ensure that the RADIUS servers are in place before beginning to define a WLAN. Several RADIUS servers may be included, which are of course the organisation's own servers. A shared secret should be established which differs from that for eduroam's national servers. The port number for authentication is usually UDP 1812. 18
