• HP StorageWorks EVA4400 Embedded Switch Module • HP StorageWorks 1606 Extension SAN Switch (Brocade 7800) Access Gateway allows a switch to operate in agmode, which provides simplified connectivity between large numbers of servers and the SAN. Access Gateway leverages N_Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) to hide the complexity of the servers (both physical and virtual) attached to it, while allowing easy SAN connectivity. The edge fabric switch provides all fabric services, while Access Gateway connects to the edge switch by what appears as a host bus adapter (HBA) connection. This architecture allows the deployment of many additional servers without requiring a domain and the associated fabric rebuild traffic, which is prevalent when switches are powered on, added, or removed from a fabric. For more information, see the Brocade Access Gateway Administrator's Guide, available on http:// www.hp.com/go/san. Access Gateway support in non-Brocade fabrics In addition to being supported in Brocade fabrics, Access Gateway is supported for connectivity to the following: • McDATA switches: 2/12 (ES4300), 2/24 (ES4500), 2/16 (ES3216), 2/32 (ES3232), 2/64 (ED6064), 2/140 (M6140), M4400, and Mi10K running 09.09.05, 09.09.06, and 09.09.07 with Brocade Fabric OS 6.2.1x, and 6.2.2x. • McDATA switches: 2/12 (ES4300), 2/24 (ES4500), 2/16 (ES3216), 2/32 (ES3232), 2/64 (ED6064), 2/140 (M6140), M4400, and Mi10K running EOS 09.09.05, 09.09.06, and 09.09.07 with Brocade Fabric OS 6.3.0x, and 6.3.1a, 6.3.1b, 6.3.1c, and 6.3.2x. • McDATA switches: 2/12 (ES4300), 2/24 (ES4500), 2/16 (ES3216), 2/32 (ES3232), 2/64 (ED6064), 2/140 (M6140), M4400, and Mi10K running EOS 09.09.07 with Brocade Fabric OS 6.4.0x. • Cisco switches: MDS 9216, MDS 9216A, MDS 9216i, MDS 9506, MDS 9509, MDS 9120, MDS 9140, MDS 9124, and MDS 9134 running SAN OS 3.2(3), 3.3(2), 3.3(3), 3.3(4), 3.3(4a) and 3.3(5) with Brocade Fabric OS 6.2.1x and 6.2.2x. • Cisco switches: MDS 9216, MDS 9216A, MDS 9506, MDS 9509, MDS 9120, MDS 9140, MDS 9124, and MDS 9134 running SAN OS 3.3(2), 3.3(3), 3.3(4), 3.3(4a), or 3.3(5) or MDS 9216i running SAN OS 3.3(1c) with Brocade Fabric OS 6.3.0x, 6.3.1a, 6.3.1b, 6.3.1c, or 6.3.2x. • Cisco switches: MDS 9216, MDS 9216A, MDS 9506, MDS 9509, MDS 9120 and MDS 9140 running SAN-OS 3.3(4a) or 3.3(5) with Brocade Fabric OS 6.4.0x. • Cisco switches: MDS 9134, MDS 9124, and MDS 9124e running NX OS 4.1(3a), 4.2(3) and 4.2(5) or MDS 9216i running NX OS 4.1(1c), 4.2(3) or 4.2(5) with Brocade Fabric OS 6.3.0x, 6.3.1a, 6.3.1b, 6.3.1c, or 6.3.2x. • Cisco switches: MDS 9134, MDS 9124, MDS 9216i, MDS 9124e, MDS 9513, MDS 9509 and MDS 9506 running NX OS 4.2(3) or 4.2(5) with Brocade Fabric OS 6.4.0x. NOTE: See the appropriate manufacturer's switch streams for information on which specific versions of firmware are currently supported. Zoning and fabric operations When configuring zoning or other fabric-wide settings in a fabric that has products operating with different versions of Fabric OS, HP recommends that you perform the configuration through an interface 14
