Top cover Description Top cover with TouchPad Spare part number 537622-001 Before removing the top cover, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 35). 5. If your computer has WWAN capability, remove the SIM (see SIM on page 36). 6. Remove the memory module (see Memory module on page 37). 7. Remove the keyboard (see Keyboard on page 39). 8. Remove the hard drive assembly (see Mass storage devices on page 43). Remove the top cover. 1. Turn the computer upside down, with the front toward you. 2. Use a thin, flat tool to release the 4 rubber feet. 3. Remove the 4 Phillips PM2.5×6.0 screws (1), and the Phillips PM2.0×4.0 screw (2) that secure the top cover to the base enclosure. 4. Turn the computer right-side up, with the front toward you. 5. Open the computer as far as possible. Component replacement procedures 45

Before removing the top cover, follow these steps:

Remove the top cover.
1.
Turn the computer upside down, with the front toward you.
2.
Use a thin, flat tool to release the 4 rubber feet.
3.
Remove the 4 Phillips PM2.5×6.0 screws

, and the Phillips PM2.0×4.0 screw
(2)
that secure
the top cover to the base enclosure.
4.
Turn the computer right-side up, with the front toward you.
5.
Open the computer as far as possible.
