Installing the SAN Switch Create a Serial Connection Before you can begin configuring the switch, you must create a connection via the serial port. To create a serial connection: 1. Insert the provided serial cable into the serial port on the switch. 2. Connect the serial cable to an RS-232 serial port on the workstation (Figure 14). 100-240 VAC 1.0A 47-63Hz IOIOI ! Figure 14: Connecting the serial cable 100-240 VAC 1.0A 47-63Hz 0014a If the serial port on the workstation uses an RJ-45 connector instead of an RS-232, remove the adapter on the end of the serial cable and insert the exposed RJ-45 connector into the RJ-45 serial port on the workstation. 3.
