(The DVD/CD must be selected as the source.) Setting the System Preferences You can set the system preferences to match it to your usage and operating circumstances. On the general setting menu, you can set the following: - - GENERAL PAGE - - TV DISPLAY OSD LANG BLACK LEVEL DRC MAIN PAGE ENGLISH CHINESE FRENCH GERMAN ITALIAN SPANISH TV DISPLAY: Select the TV screen size for playing back a DVD recorded with 16:9 wide screen video signal. • WIDE: Select "WIDE" when the aspect ratio of the TV is 16:9. (Set the screen size to full on your TV.) • 4:3 LB: Select "4:3 LB (Letter Box)" when the aspect ratio of your TV is 4:3. While viewing a wide screen picture, the black bars appear on the top and the bottom of the screen. • 4:3 PS: Select "4:3 PS (Pan-Scan)" when the aspect ratio of your TV is 4:3. While viewing a wide screen picture, the black bars do not appear, however, the left and right edge sides of the pictures will not be shown on the screen. OSD LANG (OSD language): Select the indication language shown on the TV screen while operating the system. (Ex. PLAY, STOP, PAUSE, etc.) You can select the following languages: English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish. BLACK LEVEL: Select the TV screen brightness. ON: Make the screen brightness darker. OFF: Make the screen brightness normal. • Available only for NTSC TVs (see page 10). DRC (Dynamic Range Compression): You can enjoy a powerful sound at night even at a low volume when listening to the sound with Dolby Digital. The higher the tab is set, the deeper the effect becomes. 36

Setting Up the DVD Preferences
Setting the System Preferences
You can set the system preferences to match it to your usage and
operating circumstances.
On the general setting menu, you can set the following:
TV DISPLAY
:
Select the TV screen size for playing back a DVD
recorded with 16:9 wide screen video signal.
WIDE
:
Select
WIDE
when the
aspect ratio of the TV is
16:9. (Set the screen size to
full on your TV.)
4:3 LB
:
Select
4:3 LB (Letter Box)
when the aspect ratio of your TV
is 4:3. While viewing a wide
screen picture, the black bars
appear on the top and the bottom
of the screen.
4:3 PS
:
Select
4:3 PS (Pan-Scan)
when the aspect ratio of your TV
is 4:3. While viewing a wide
screen picture, the black bars do
