AlignPlot_v12 Used to evaluate the dynamic 'X' and 'Y alignment performance of the print engine. This plot should be printed without any side and trailing margins. We scan these plots and perform automated analysis on the seam regions. The illustration is a close-up of a printhead seam area, with the horizontal lines and boxes that are printed between the printheads highlighted by the red box. This plot is also very useful when diagnosing certain types of system issues. The image next to is a view that focuses on the reference marks within the plot image. These reference marks assume that there is no trailing edge margin applied to the print Job. As indicated, the reference marks labelled, "GS" correspond to the point at which the trailing edge of the media has become disengaged from the Grit Shaft. Since the two rows of printheads are separated by a distance of 65mm along the media feed axis, this event occurs closer to the trailing edge of the media for PHs 1 & 3 than it does for PHs 0, 2 & 4. The reference mark labelled, "enc H/O" indicates the point where the trailing edge becomes disengaged from the Media Encoder. During this transition, the system synthesizes "media encoder" pulses using data from a couple of sources, including the Vacuum Belt Shaft Encoder. Since the Media Encoder is coincident with the first row of PHs (PH 1 & 3) in the axis of the media advance, there is no "enc H/O" reference for these printheads. The Media Encoder Handoff transition is only meaningful in the context of printing from PHs 0, 2 & 4. DOCUMENT I 18.40V02 - Update: 04.09.2019 OPERATIONAL MANUAL Page 109
