(PQ) Defects
Vertical White
Lines (General)
Vertical White Lines are classified into
three (3) categories:
Thin
1 mm wide or less;
Medium
1 mm to 10 mm
wide;
Thick
greater than 10
mm.
There
are
various
causes;
dehydration, external contamination -
paper fibers or dust on some nozzles,
ink aerosol that has collected on
nozzle area, air bubbles, electrical
failure, or permanently dead jets.
Solutions
Thick ~20mm - suspected cause is
electrical:
Remove and reseat the
printhead;
Replace printhead if
problem persists;
Medium - suspected cause is
dehydration:
Dehydration is often
resolved by letting the
system return to the
“Capped” state 20 seconds
after completing a print job.
During the next print job,
the system should clear the
printheads of any
dehydration before exiting
“Cap”;
Recovery Level 0 (Flush) if
returning to Cap is not
effective
Thin - suspected cause is external
contamination or air bubbles:
External contamination
such as paper fibers or
dust
a)
Return to Cap will remove
contamination due to Wipe
b)
Wet Wipe (Recovery Level
1)
-
Thick: If ~20mm wide
probably electrical;
-
Medium: Probably dehydration;
-
Thin: External Contamination.
