Service class Secondary information The secondary information often begins with the character string "[)>"+ RS character (=field separator, ASCII character 30). The individual fields are separated by a GS character (=group separator, ASCII character 29) and the complete secondary information is closed with the RS character (=field separator, ASCII character 30) and the EOT character (=end of transmission, ASCII character 4), as shown in the following example. Although the rules for the secondary information are not mandatory from the point of view of the MaxiCode, they are very widespread in dispatch systems throughout the world and should be observed for this reason. All data should be entered in capital letters. The postal code may contain up to 9 digits in mode 2 (numerical) and up to 6 capital letters or digits in mode 3 (alphanumerical).
