Zimmermann Understanding the key list display When you list the keys on a keyring, the following columns display specific information about each key: Alg, Type, Size, Flags, Key ID, and User ID. The information displayed in each of column is described in greater detail below. Algorithm (Alg) Specifies the algorithm used in the creation of the key. • DSS indicates that the key is a DH/DSS key. • RSA indicates that the key is either a new RSA key or an RSA Legacy key. Type Specifies the type of key: • pair indicates that you have both the public and private keys. • pub indicates that the key is a public key on your key ring. • sig indicates a signature on a key. • uid indicates an additional user ID associated with the key. • pid indicates a photo ID on the key.
