Setup Menu U Motion Detection Tap the bottom tab (A 150) M Tap z (Setup menu) M U Motion detection Enable motion detection to reduce the effects of subject movement and camera shake when shooting still images. U Auto (default setting) When the camera detects subject movement or camera shake, the ISO sensitivity and shutter speed are automatically increased to reduce blurring. However, motion detection does not function in the following situations. • When the flash fires • In A (auto) mode, when Subject tracking (A 50) is selected • In A (auto) mode, when ISO sensitivity (A 55) is set to any setting other than Auto • In A (auto) mode, when Multi-shot 16 (A 56) is selected • In the following scene modes: - Sports (A 65) - Night portrait (A 65) - Dusk/dawn (A 67) - Night landscape (A 67) - Museum (A 69) - Fireworks show (A 69) - Backlighting (A 70) k Off Motion detection is disabled. The current motion detection setting can be confirmed in the camera monitor when shooting (A 10, 27). The motion detection icon turns green when the camera detects camera shake and increases shutter speed. When Off is selected, no icon is displayed. Basic Camera Setup B Notes on Motion Detection • Motion detection may be unable to completely eliminate the effects of subject movement and camera shake in some situations. • Motion detection may not function if the subject exhibits significant movement or is too dark. • The images captured using motion detection may be somewhat "grainy" in appearance. 159
