The sound heard through the headphones is the same sound that can be heard from the Front speakers, although it may be slightly different from what is heard from the speakers when the Surround mode is used. (The sound from the headphones may sound a little distant.) Temporary muting Press the MUTING button on the remote controller. The AUDIO MUTE indicator will Klink and the sound from the speakers or headphones will be switched off by the receiver's audio muting circuits. To cancel, • press the MUTING button again, or • turn the power off. then on. Sleep facility The sleep timer can power off the stem after a specified time period. To operate this function, use the remote controller supplied with this receiver. 1. Start the source playing that you would like to listen to (CD, tape or radio broadcast). 2. Set the amount of time after which you want the system to turn off. The sleep timer works for up to 90 minutes. You can shorten the timer by 10 minutes increments by pressing the SLEEP button until the desired time has been reached. When the set time comes. the power Will be switched of! automatically. Cancelling the sleep setting Press the SLEEP button until it changes to the source display you are listening to. The timer can also be cancelled while it is in operation, by turning off the power. The direct function If the compact disc player or tape deck connected to this receiver feature the RI mark, you can use the direct function to automatically set the input selector. Simply operating the compact disc player. for example, will automatically set the receiver's input selector to CD. This means ou don't have to set this unit's input selector when changing the music source. 17
