SMT-W6100 User Guide Glossary To help you understand the main technical terms and abbreviations used in this booklet and take full advantage of the features of your mobile phone, here are a few definitions. EMS (Enhanced Message Service) Network service sending and receiving messages that include images, sounds and animations to and from another user without having to speak to the correspondent. MMS (Multimedia Message Service) A message service for the mobile environment, standardized by the WAP Forum and the 3rd Generation Partnership Program(3GPP). For phone users, MMS is similar to Short Message Service(SMS)-it provides automatic, immediate delivery of user-created content from phone to phone. The message addressing used is primarily phone numbers, thus the traffic goes from phone to phone. MMS also provides support for e-mail addressing, so that messages can also be sent by e-mail. In addition to the text content of SMS, MMS messages can contain still images, voice or audio clips, and later also video clips and presentation information. 152

EMS (Enhanced Message Service)
Network service sending and receiving messages that include images, sounds and animations to

MMS (Multimedia Message Service)
A message service for the mobile environment, standardized by the WAP Forum and the 3rd
