Appendix Deregister handsets If you want to replace a handset or reassign the designated handset number of a registered handset, you must deregister all handsets. Then register each handset you wish to use individually. To make deregistration easier, read all of the instructions on this page before you begin. To deregister all handsets: 1. Make sure that all handsets are out of the telephone base and handset chargers before you begin deregistration. 2. Press and hold /FIND HANDSET on the telephone base for about 10 seconds until the IN USE light flashes. 3. Quickly press /FIND HANDSET again. You must press /FIND HANDSET while the IN USE light is still flashing. The IN USE light flashes for about five seconds. If the light stops flashing, start again with Step 1 above. 4. All system handsets show Put handset on BASE to register, and you hear a confirmation tone when deregistration completes. The deregistration process takes about 10 seconds to complete. If deregistration fails, you may need to reset the telephone and try again. To reset: • Press and hold OFF/CANCEL or place the handset back in the telephone base. - OR • Unplug the power from the telephone base, then plug it back in. • You cannot deregister handsets if any system handset is in use. • Even if the battery is depleted, you can still deregister the handsets by following the steps above. 97

Deregister handsets
If you want to replace a handset or reassign the designated handset number
of a registered handset, you must deregister all handsets. Then register each
handset you wish to use individually.
To make deregistration easier, read all of the instructions on this page before
you begin.
To deregister all handsets:
Make sure that all handsets are out of the
telephone base and handset chargers before
you begin deregistration.
Press and hold
/FIND HANDSET
on the
telephone base for about 10 seconds until the
IN USE
light flashes.
Quickly press
/FIND HANDSET
again. You
must press
/FIND HANDSET
while the
IN USE
light is still flashing. The
IN USE
light flashes
for about five seconds.
If the light stops flashing, start again with
Step 1
above.
All system handsets show
Put handset on BASE to register
