Thesteering wheelshouldbeclamped in astraight-aheadpositionwithaclampingdevice designedforatowingservice.Donotusethevehicle'ssteeringcolumn lock forthis.Thetransmission(eitherautomaticormanual)shouldbe in N (Neutral)andthetransfercase(eithermanualshiftorelectronicshift), if youhaveone,shouldbe in 2 WHEEL (two-wheeldrive).Theparkingbrake shouldbereleased. Don't have your vehicle towed on the rear (drive) wheels, unless you have to, If thevehiclemustbetowedontherearwheels,don't go morethan 35 mph (56 km/h)or farther than 50 miles (80 km)oryourtransmission will be damaged.
