3.4.2 Storage Configuration The Storage Configuration menu allows you to configure your storage devices. Select an item then press to display the submenu. Main Storage Configuration Onboard PCI IDE Controller OnChip S-ATA Controller SATA Mode select BIOS SETUP UTILITY [Enabled] [Enabled] [IDE Mode] Onboard PCI IDE Controller [Enabled] [Enabled] Enables the onboard IDE controller. [Disabled] Disables the onboard IDE controller. OnChip S-ATA Controller [Enabled] [Enabled] Enables the onboard SATA controller. [Disabled] Disables the onboard SATA controller. SATA Mode select [IDE Mode] This item appears only when you enabled the OnChip S-ATA Controller item and allows you to select the SATA mode. [IDE Mode] [RAID Mode] [AHCI Mode] Set to [IDE Mode] when you want to use the Serial ATA hard disk drives as Serial ATA physical storage devices. Set to [RAID Mode] when you want to create a RAID configuration from the SATA hard disk drives. Set to [AHCI Mode] when you want the SATA hard disk drives to use the AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface). The AHCI allows the onboard storage driver to enable advanced Serial ATA features that increases storage performance on random workloads by allowing the drive to internally optimize the order of commands. • When this item is set to [AHCI], the information of the SATA connectors can be seen only under the OS environment or during POST. • For Windows® XP OS, you have to install the AHCI driver, so that you could use the SATA connectors in AHCI mode under the OS environment. 3.4.3 System Information This menu gives you an overview of the general system specifications. The BIOS automatically detects the BIOS information, CPU specification, and system memory in this menu.
