5.1.2 ASUS CrashFree BIOS utility The ASUS CrashFree BIOS is an auto recovery tool that allows you to restore or update the BIOS file when it fails or gets corrupted during the updating process. You can restore or update a corrupted BIOS file using the system support CD. Prepare the system support CD containing the original or updated BIOS file before using this utility. To recover the BIOS using the ASUS CrashFree BIOS Utility: 1. Turn on the system. 2. Place the support CD to the optical drive. 3. The utility displays the following message and automatically checks the motherboard support CD for the original/updated BIOS file. Bad BIOS checksum. Starting BIOS recovery... Checking for floppy... Floppy not found! Checking for CD-ROM... CD-ROM found! Reading file "P4SQ-X.BIN". Completed. Start flashing... When the original/updated BIOS file is found, the utility automatically updates the corrupted BIOS file. DO NOT shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS! Doing so can cause system boot failure! The utility restarts the system after the updating process. The recovered BIOS file may not be the updated BIOS for this system.
