Utility Stitches ■ Piecing Sewing together two pieces of fabric is called "piecing". The fabric pieces should be cut with a 6.5 mm (1/4 inch) seam allowance. Sew a piecing straight stitch 6.5 mm (1/4 inch) from either the right side or the left side of the presser foot. Baste or pin along the seam allowance of the fabric a that you wish to piece together. If the machine is set so that the stitch width can be adjusted using the sewing speed controller, the stitch width can quickly and easily be adjusted. When this function is set, the foot controller must be used to sew. Connect the foot controller. a Attach zigzag foot "J". b Touch and set [Width Control] (page 1 of the c settings screen) to [ON].  The machine is now set so that the stitch width can be controlled with the sewing speed controller. Memo • Although the stitching results differ depending on the type of fabric being sewn and the thickness of the thread being used, for best results, adjust the stitch length to between 0.3 and 0.5 mm (1/64 and 1/32 inch). Piecing
Sewing together two pieces of fabric is called “piecing”. The
fabric pieces should be cut with a 6.5 mm (1/4 inch) seam
allowance.
Sew a piecing straight stitch 6.5 mm (1/4 inch) from either the
right side or the left side of the presser foot.

that you wish to piece together.

Satin stitching using the sewing speed
controller
A decorative stitch can be sewn by changing the stitch width
of a satin stitch. If the machine is set so that the stitch width
can be adjusted using the sewing speed controller, the stitch
width can quickly and easily be adjusted. When this function
is set, the foot controller must be used to sew.
