Color Printing Problems Problem Printer prints only in black (you are printing from an application that supports color printing but your output is black-ink only) Colors are broken or uneven Cause The BJC-70 driver may not be selected. The printer driver may not be selecting color. The Color BJ cartridge may not be working properly. The print head unit may need cleaning. You may have paused the printer. The print mode may be inappropriate. If you are generating a thin line with a nonprimary color, your software may be telling the printer to place a color every other dot (white is in between). Solution Verify that you selected the BJC-70 printer driver or other compatible color printer driver. Check that you selected a color option when you set up the printer driver. Run a test print to make sure the Color BJ cartridge and ink tanks are firing correctly. If the ink tank is empty, replace it. Clean the print head; see page 101 for details. Make sure you did not set the printer off-line during the print job. If you are printing high density graphics on plain paper, set the print mode to Coated Paper in the Windows driver. If you are using MS-DOS, select Fine mode. To correct this, choose cyan, yellow, or magenta instead. 134 Troubleshooting Chapter 8
