Simultaneous Recording of Proxy Clips

Page 113 highlights

Simultaneous Recording of Proxy Clips Simultaneous Recording of Proxy Clips In addition to a primary clip recorded in RAW on a CFast card, you can simultaneously record the same scene as a proxy clip (in MP4 or XF-AVC format) on an SD card. Because proxy clips are relatively smaller files, they are suitable for offline editing. 113 Operating modes: 1 Set the main recording format to RAW (A 64). 2 Open the proxy recording [Sub Rec Format] submenu. > [Æ ! Recording/Media Setup] > [Sub Rec Format] 3 If necessary, select the audio format (A 99). 4 Select [MP4 (SD Card)] or [XF-AVC (SD Card)] and then press the joystick. 5 Press the REC button to start and stop recording. • A proxy clip will be recorded on the SD card at the same time the primary clip is recorded on the CFast card. Video and audio configuration of proxy clips The recorded proxy clip has the following video configuration. The frame rate is the same as that used for the primary clip. The audio configuration depends on the proxy clip's audio recording format (A 99) Resolution and color sampling: 2K (2048x1080), YCbCr 4:2:0, 8 bit Bit rate: 35 Mbps (for MP4 proxy clips) or 45 Mbps (for XF-AVC proxy clips) IMPORTANT • Observe the following precautions while an access indicator is illuminated in red. Failure to do so may result in permanent data loss. - Do not open the card slot cover of the card being accessed and do not remove the card. - Do not disconnect the power source or turn off the camera. NOTES • If the recording of the primary clip stops during simultaneous recording, recording of the proxy clip will stop as well. • When an SDHC card is used to record proxy clips, the video (stream) file in a proxy clip will be split approximately every 4 GB for clips with long recording times. Still, playback on the camera will be continuous. • During HDR output (A 155), the BT.709 LUT (A 156) will be applied automatically to the proxy clip. The dynamic range will be 800% maximum when [HDR/LUT] is set to [HDR: PQ]; it will be 425% maximum when [HDR/LUT] is set to [HDR: HLG]. • If proxy clip recording is activated but no CFast card is inserted in the camera, the proxy clip will not be recorded.

Simultaneous Recording of Proxy Clips
Simultaneous Recording of Proxy Clips
In addition to a primary clip recorded in RAW on a CFast card, you can simultaneously record the same scene as
a proxy clip (in MP4 or XF-AVC format) on an SD card. Because proxy clips are relatively smaller files, they are
suitable for offline editing.
1 Set the main recording format to RAW (
A
64).
2 Open the proxy recording [Sub Rec Format] submenu.

3 If necessary, select the audio format (
A
99).
4 Select [MP4 (SD Card)] or [XF-AVC (SD Card)] and then press the joystick.
5 Press the REC button to start and stop recording.
A proxy clip will be recorded on the SD card at the same time the primary clip is recorded on the CFast card.
IMPORTANT
Observe the following precautions while an access indicator is illuminated in red. Failure to do so may result in
permanent data loss.
-
Do not open the card slot cover of the card being accessed and do not remove the card.
-
Do not disconnect the power source or turn off the camera.
NOTES
NOTES
If the recording of the primary clip stops during simultaneous recording, recording of the proxy clip will stop as well.
When an SDHC card is used to record proxy clips, the video (stream) file in a proxy clip will be split
approximately every 4 GB for clips with long recording times. Still, playback on the camera will be continuous.
During HDR output (
A
155), the BT.709 LUT (
A
156) will be applied automatically to the proxy clip. The
dynamic range will be 800% maximum when [HDR/LUT] is set to [HDR: PQ]; it will be 425% maximum when
[HDR/LUT] is set to [HDR: HLG].
If proxy clip recording is activated but no CFast card is inserted in the camera, the proxy clip will not be
recorded.
Operating modes:
Video and audio configuration of proxy clips
The recorded proxy clip has the following video configuration. The frame rate is the same as that used for the
primary clip. The audio configuration depends on the proxy clip’s audio recording format (

Resolution and color sampling:
2K (2048x1080), YCbCr 4:2:0, 8 bit
Bit rate:
35 Mbps (for MP4 proxy clips) or 45 Mbps (for XF-AVC proxy clips)
