Brocade/QLogic Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) support boot from SAN in all types of environments. Brocade features make boot from SAN easier to deploy, such as putting a label with the port World Wide Name (pWWN) on the bracket of the HBA and a feature called Fabric-Based Boot LUN Discovery. Fabric-Based Boot LUN Discovery can be deployed in a Brocade SAN only using Brocade/ QLogic HBAs; eliminating the manual process of boot LUN configuration of each HBA from each server console. This capability dramatically improves configuration and reliability, containing operational costs and making the adoption of diskless servers a practical alternative for even large data centers.
