If you do not change the passwords, the switch prompts you after each subsequent login until all the default passwords have been changed. There is one set of default accounts for the entire chassis: admin, user, and root. Use the admin account when you log in to the switch for the first time and to perform basic configuration tasks. The user account is primarily used for basic system monitoring. The root account is reserved for development and manufacturing, or for debugging. For more information on the default accounts, refer to Default accounts on page 149. NOTE The passwords for the default accounts should be changed from their default values when prompted immediately following the login; these passwords cannot be changed using the passwd command later in the session, until the user has completed this step. If you skip this step, and then later decide to change the passwords, you will need to log out and then log back in. For root login, you are forced to changed the default password.
