It cannot be used as an external device with the floppy drive cable. The floppy drive cable is for connecting external floppy drives only. If the CD drive is not listed, perform a full scan with your antivirus software to check for and remove viruses. Viruses can sometimes prevent Windows from recognizing the drive.
