Dynamic ACLs may not exceed the size of a single RADIUS Access-Accept packet. There is no support for multiple packet ACLs. (Max dynamic ACL is 4000 ASCII characters). Downloadable ACLs The switch also supports download of access control lists using CiscoSecureDefined-ACL attribute-value pair. The dynamic ACL downloaded from a RADIUS server to the switch is referred as a downloadable ACLs of dACL. CiscoSecure-Defined-ACL attribute-value pair: This attribute uses a Named ACL configured on the RADIUS Server. The CiscoSecure-Defined-ACL attribute-value pair is set with the RADIUS Cisco-AV-Pair vendor-specific attributes (VSAs). This pair specifies the name of the Downloadable ACL on the RADIUS server with the ACL-Name attribute. When the CiscoSecureDefined-ACL attribute is received, a new Access-Request, with UserName as ACL-Name is sent to the RADIUS server, to which RADIUS responds with Access-Accept containing Rules in the ACL Set of the CiscoSecure-Defined-ACL as individual Cisco AV Pair attributes. When the number of rules are more than they can fit into the Access-Accept, RADIUS responds with subset of rules in Access-Challenge and the switch, in turn, requests the next set of rules by sending an Access-Request. The last set of rules from the RADIUS server are sent in the Access-Accept. If there is no response to the second Access-Request, or if an Access-Reject is received, the client is Rejected. Individual Cisco AVPs containing individual ACL rules are sent in AccessAccept along with CiscoSecure-Defined-ACL AVP. All the rules/ACLs are applied on the port. The rules downloaded as part of the second AccessRequest are stored (cached) in a DB on the switch until there is at least one client (on any port) using (configured with) that ACL. The ACL-Name must be compliant with the ACL naming convention. When dealing with a large number of rules in IPv4 or IPv6 named ACLs, to optimize the TCAM resource usage, a configuration parameter on the switch instructs whether or not to replace the keyword any for the srcip field in the ACL rule with the client IP address. Replacing the rule with client IP address will make the entire ACL with all the rules unique and each client across each port uses unique ACL and different TCAM entries. Dynamic ACLs may not exceed the size of a single RADIUS Access-Accept

packet. There is no support for multiple packet ACLs. (Max dynamic ACL is

4000 ASCII characters).

Downloadable ACLs

The switch also supports download of access control lists using CiscoSecure-

Defined-ACL attribute-value pair. The dynamic ACL downloaded from a

RADIUS server to the switch is referred as a downloadable ACLs of dACL.

CiscoSecure-Defined-ACL attribute-value pair: This attribute uses a Named

ACL configured on the RADIUS Server. The CiscoSecure-Defined-ACL

attribute-value pair is set with the RADIUS Cisco-AV-Pair vendor-specific

attributes (VSAs). This pair specifies the name of the Downloadable ACL on

the RADIUS server with the

ACL-Name

attribute. When the CiscoSecure-

Defined-ACL attribute is received, a new Access-Request, with UserName as

ACL-Name

is sent to the RADIUS server, to which RADIUS responds with

Access-Accept containing Rules in the ACL Set <

ACL-Name

CiscoSecure-Defined-ACL as individual Cisco AV Pair attributes. When the

number of rules are more than they can fit into the Access-Accept, RADIUS

responds with subset of rules in Access-Challenge and the switch, in turn,

requests the next set of rules by sending an Access-Request. The last set of

rules from the RADIUS server are sent in the Access-Accept.

If there is no response to the second Access-Request, or if an Access-Reject is

received, the client is Rejected.

Individual Cisco AVPs containing individual ACL rules are sent in Access-

Accept along with CiscoSecure-Defined-ACL AVP. All the rules/ACLs are

applied on the port. The rules downloaded as part of the second Access-

Request are stored (cached) in a DB on the switch until there is at least one

client (on any port) using (configured with) that ACL. The

ACL-Name

be compliant with the ACL naming convention.

When dealing with a large number of rules in IPv4 or IPv6 named ACLs, to

optimize the TCAM resource usage, a configuration parameter on the switch

instructs whether or not to replace the keyword
