MODEM FCC INFORMATION FCC part68 This equipment complies with FCC rules, Part 68. On the underside of your computer is a label that contains, among other things, the FCC Registration Number and Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) for this equipment. You must, uponrequest, provide this information to your telephone company. An FCC compliant telephone cord and modular plug is provided with this equipment. This equipment is designed to be connected to the telephone network or premises wiring using a compatible modular jack which is Part 65 compliant. See the installation instructions for details. The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) is useful to determine the quantity of devices you may connect to your telephone line and still have all of those devices ring when your telephone number is called. In most, but not all areas, the sum of the REN's of all devices connected to one line should not exceed five (5.0). To be certain of the number of devices you may connect to your line, as determined by the REN, you should contact your local telephone company to determine the maximum RRN for your area. Should this equipment cause harm to the telephone network, the telephone company shall, where practical, notify the customer that temporary discontinuance of service may be required; however, where prior written notice is not practical, the telephone company may discontinue service forthwith, if such action is reasonable in the circumstances. You will be informed of your right to file a complaint with the FCC. The telephone company may make changes inits communications facilities, equipment, operation procedures, where such action is reasonable, required in the operation of its business and is not inconsistent with the rules and regulations of the Federal Communications Commission. If they do, you will be notified in advance to give you an opportunity to maintain uninterrupted telephone service. Do not attempt to repair or modify this equipment. If defective, return it to the person from whom it was purchased, who will in turn arrange to return it or to have it repaired by the manufacturer or his authorized agent. The telephone company may ask that you disconnect this equipment from the network until the problem has been corrected or until you are sure that the equipment is not malfunctioning. If equipment is determined to be malfunctioning, its use shag be discontinued until the problem has been corrected.
