6 Maintenance TO maintain optimum printing quality, clean your PriorityFax after every three or four rolls of recording paper you use. Cleaning the Interior of the Fax Machine To clean the interior of the fax machine, follow these steps: WARNING Unplug the machine before cleaning it to avoid electric shock. When you unplug the machine, most of the items in memory are not affected. If you print an activity report (see Chapter 2) and make sure that no documents are in the fax machine's memory just before you unplug the machine, the only items you lose are the date and time setting and the activity report interval (if you have changed it). Unplug the machine. Press down on the recording paper cover button to open up the fax machine. Remove the recording paper roll. Use a soft cloth or a cotton swab soaked in isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the surfaces and rollers inside the machine. Be particularly careful to clean the clear plastic cover of the scanner (indicated by the two arrows in the illustration below) and the white document pressure bar above it. 6-1

Cleaning the Interior
