Configuring Self Migration from the D2D Web Management Interface The HP StoreOnce Backup System user guide provides step by step instructions on how to configure replication mappings on the Web Management Interface. However, there are some differences when configuring Self Replication. This chapter provides a simple step by step guide to migrating a NAS share using self replication. In this example: There is a D2D Share called ―BackupShare1‖ that was created on a previous firmware revision and is the target for backups. This share is going to be migrated to a new share that is going to be called ―NEWBackupShare1‖. This new share is created after the upgrade to new firmware, so will benefit from the performance enhancements. The D2D Backup System does NOT need to have a replication license installed in order to perform self replication. Note: The following example shows NAS Share migration; a similar process can be followed for VTL store migration; all parameters, drives/cartridge sizes, for the new VTL must be created identical to the old VTL. 1. The first step is to create the ―NEWBackupShare1‖ device; this must be done prior to running the replication wizard. (Unlike with replication to another appliance where a license is installed, the wizard cannot create shares as part of the replication configuration process.) 123

Configuring Self Migration from the D2D Web Management Interface
The
HP StoreOnce Backup System user guide
provides step by step instructions on how to configure replication
mappings on the Web Management Interface. However, there are some differences when configuring Self
Replication. This chapter provides a simple step by step guide to migrating a NAS share using self replication.
In this example:
There is a D2D Share called ―BackupShare1‖ that was created on a previous firmware revision and is the
target for backups.
Th
is share is going to be migrated to a new share that is going to be called ―NEWBackupShare1‖.
This new share is created after the upgrade to new firmware, so will benefit from the performance
enhancements.
The D2D Backup System does NOT need to have a replication license installed in order to perform self
replication.
Note:
The following example shows NAS Share migration; a similar process can be followed for VTL store
migration; all parameters, drives/cartridge sizes, for the new VTL must be created identical to the old VTL.
1.
The first step is to create the ―NEWBackupShare1‖ device; this must be done prior to running the replication
wizard. (Unlike with replication to another appliance where a license is installed, the wizard cannot create
shares as part of the replication configuration process.)
