Workflow 3: Upstream imposition - LayCrImp without Preimposed PDF In some cases, the upstream imposition program can create a LayCrImp file without the preimposed PDF. HP's DFE does not understand the LayCrImp format. To import such a job to the DFE, you can use Ultimate's Direct2Finish Connector program. This program takes the LayCrImp file and outputs an imposed PDF and HP JDF that are automatically sent to the DFE. The output of Ultimate's Direct2Finish Connector corresponds with Workflow 2: Upstream imposition - Preimposed PDF using JDF on page 11. This is required to allow the RIP server and the UBM to translate settings defined in the upstream software program into the required information for the Horizon SmartStacker.
