Upgrading to Wave Table If you want to expand the sound generation capabilities of your PC's audio subsystem, you can install an AWE-32 capable accessory board. This board uses a digital signal processor (DSP) to create synthesized sounds from a wave table of 32 polyphonic voices. The wave table is a library of recorded, real, orchestral audio samples that are stored in ROM memory. The AWE-32 capable accessory board is an ISA accessory board that connects directly with your integrated audio subsystem through a connector on your PC's system board. HP PCI INTEGRATED 10/100VG LAN INTERFACE The 32-bit PCI LAN controller supplied with your PC provides a 10Base-T/100VG AnyLAN interface. This interface uses either IEEE 802.3 technology for transmitting at 10 Mbit/s, or IEEE 802.12 technology for transmitting at 100 Mbit/s. Best performance from your PC's integrated 10/100VG LAN interface is obtained when using the 100 Mbit/s transmission rate. This rate is over 16 times the transmission rates used by standard 10Base-T networks and offers support for time-sensitive applications such as multimedia presentations. No Data Collisions The HP PCI integrated 10/100VG LAN interface uses a protocol called Demand Priority Access to avoid network collisions. Under this protocol, data packets transmitted over the network are directed only to their destination port. The data is not visible to other ports on the network. By using Demand Priority Access, you will be able to prioritize the data traffic on your network and avoid collisions between different data packets. Demand Priority Access allows you to minimize latency (unused capacity) on your network and so maximizes network throughput for time-sensitive applications. Your Network Adapter Your PCI integrated 10/100VG LAN interface requires no hardware configuration. Drivers are supplied with your PC that will enable you to use the network adapter with any type of network for all supported operating systems. For further information on the HP PCI integrated 10/100VG LAN interface, refer to the online Network Administrator's Guide supplied with your PC.

Upgrading to Wave Table
If you want to expand the sound generation capabilities of your PC’s audio subsystem, you can
install an AWE-32 capable accessory board. This board uses a digital signal processor (DSP)
to create synthesized sounds from a wave table of 32 polyphonic voices. The wave table is a
library of recorded, real, orchestral audio samples that are stored in ROM memory.
The AWE-32 capable accessory board is an ISA accessory board that connects directly with
your integrated audio subsystem through a connector on your PC’s system board.
HP PCI INTEGRATED 10/100VG LAN INTERFACE
The 32-bit PCI LAN controller supplied with your PC provides a 10Base-T/100VG AnyLAN
interface. This interface uses either IEEE 802.3 technology for transmitting at 10 Mbit/s, or
IEEE 802.12 technology for transmitting at 100 Mbit/s.
Best performance from your PC’s integrated 10/100VG LAN interface is obtained when using
the 100 Mbit/s transmission rate. This rate is over 16 times the transmission rates used by
standard 10Base-T networks and offers support for time-sensitive applications such as
multimedia presentations.
No Data Collisions
The HP PCI integrated 10/100VG LAN interface uses a protocol called Demand Priority Access
to avoid network collisions. Under this protocol, data packets transmitted over the network are
directed only to their destination port. The data is not visible to other ports on the network.
By using Demand Priority Access, you will be able to prioritize the data traffic on your network
and avoid collisions between different data packets. Demand Priority Access allows you to
minimize latency (unused capacity) on your network and so maximizes network throughput for
time-sensitive applications.
Your Network Adapter
Your PCI integrated 10/100VG LAN interface requires no hardware configuration. Drivers are
supplied with your PC that will enable you to use the network adapter with any type of network
for all supported operating systems.
