The remaining four wires are signal wires. These wires are grouped into two sets of two twisted wires. These sets of twisted wires are shielded as is the overall cable. See Figure 5-6. Cables connected between devices on a bus segment must not exceed 4.5 meters in length. However, you can create longer distances between devices with repeater hardware. IEEE-1394 cable
The IEEE-1394 cable consists of six copper wires. Two of the cable’s
wires are used to carry power. The remaining four wires are signal wires.
These wires are grouped into two sets of two twisted wires. These sets of
twisted wires are shielded as is the overall cable. See Figure 5-6.
