8.0 General 8.1 Introduction This specification describes the host interface of the Travelstar 5K100 hard disk drive. The interface conforms to the Working Document of Information technology with certain limitations described in 8.0, "Deviations From Standard." - Serial ATA: High Speed Serialized AT Attachement Revision 1.0a dated on 7 January 2003 - Serial ATA II: Extensions to Serial ATA 1.0a Revision 1.1 dated on 9 October 2003 - AT Attachment with Packet Interface Extension (ATA/ATAPI-6) Revision 3b dated on 26 February 2002 HTS5410XXG9SA00 support the following functions as Vendor Specific Function Device Host First Command INTRQ Device indicates HTS5410XXG9SA00 Host indicates the system that the device is attached to. The command which is executed first right after power on reset or COMRESET when the ititial power mode at powre on Standby mode. Interrupt request (Device or Host) 8.2 Deviations from standard The device conforms to the referenced specifications with the following deviations described below. The interface conforms to the Working Document of Information Technology, AT Attachment with Packet Interface Extension (ATA/ATAPI-6) Revision 3b dated 26 Feb. 2002, with deviation as follows. Write Verify WRITE VERIFY command does not include read verification after write operation. The function is exactly same as WRITE SECTORS command. S.M.A.R.T. Return StatusS.M.A.R.T. RETURN STATUS subcommand does not check advisory attributes. That is, the device will not report threshold exceeded condition unless prefailure attributes exceed their corresponding thresholds. For example, Power-On Hours Attribute never results in negative reliability status. Check Power Mode Check Power Mode command returns FFh to Sector Count Register when the device is in Idle mode. This command does not support 80h as the return value. COMRESET COMRESET response is not the same as that of Power On Reset. Refer to section 5.1, "Reset Response" for detail.
