Chapter 5. I/O connectors Your server has the following input/output (I/O) connectors: v Two Ethernet (rear) v One serial (rear) v Four Universal Serial Bus (USB) (two front, two rear) v One video (rear) The following illustration shows the locations of the connectors on the front panel. USB connectors The following illustration shows the locations of the connectors on the rear panel. Power-cord connector Serial connector Video USB connectors connector Gigabit Ethernet 1 connector (LAN1) Gigabit Ethernet 2 connector (LAN2) The following sections describe these connectors. If you have an optional Remote Supervisor Adapter II (system-management adapter) installed in PCI-X slot 2, the adapter has an Ethernet connector, a serial connector, and an Advanced System Management (ASM) Interconnect connector. See the documentation that comes with the Remote Supervisor Adapter II for more information about these connectors and LEDs. Ethernet connector The following illustration shows the dual Ethernet connectors. Activity LEDs Link LEDs 1 8 1 8 Connect Category 3, 4, or 5 unshielded twisted-pair cables to these connectors. The 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T Fast Ethernet standards require Category 5 or higher cabling.
