Page 55 highlights

When you delete the RAID array, the array configuration information is removed; no data is deleted. See "Deleting an IDE RAID array configuration" on page 53 for instructions. Important: Installation of an I/O expansion card requires removal of the IDE drive installed in IDE connector 2. The I/O expansion card occupies the same space as this IDE drive and replaces it. You cannot install an IDE drive in IDE connector 2 while an I/O expansion card is installed in the blade server. v If the IDE drive installed in IDE connector 2 contains any information that you want to keep, back it up to another storage device. v If the IDE hard disk drive that is installed in IDE connector 2 is part of a RAID array, delete this IDE RAID array configuration before removing the hard disk drive. When you delete the RAID array, the array configuration information is removed; no data is deleted. For information about creating and deleting an IDE RAID array configuration, see the HS20 Type 8832 Installation and User's Guide on the BladeCenter Documentation CD or the BladeCenter T Documentation CD. When you delete the RAID array, the array configuration information is removed; no
data is deleted. See "Deleting an IDE RAID array configuration" on page 53 for
instructions.
Important:
Installation of an I/O expansion card requires removal of the IDE drive
installed in IDE connector 2. The I/O expansion card occupies the
same space as this IDE drive and replaces it. You cannot install an IDE
drive in IDE connector 2 while an I/O expansion card is installed in the
blade server.
v
If the IDE drive installed in IDE connector 2 contains any information
that you want to keep, back it up to another storage device.
v
If the IDE hard disk drive that is installed in IDE connector 2 is part
of a RAID array, delete this IDE RAID array configuration before
removing the hard disk drive. When you delete the RAID array, the
array configuration information is removed; no data is deleted. For
information about creating and deleting an IDE RAID array
configuration, see the HS20 Type 8832 Installation and User’s Guide
on the
BladeCenter Documentation
CD or the
BladeCenter T
Documentation
CD.
Figure 24 shows how to install an I/O expansion card on the blade server. The card
is installed near IDE connector 2.
Complete the following steps to install an I/O expansion card:
1.
Review Appendix B, “Safety information,” on page 97 and “Installation
guidelines” on page 27.
2.
Shut down the operating system, turn off the blade server, and remove the
blade server from the BladeCenter unit (see “Removing the blade server from
the BladeCenter unit” on page 29).
3.
Carefully lay the blade server on a flat, static-protective surface.
4.
Open the cover (see “Opening the blade server cover” on page 34 for
instructions).
