Page 63 highlights

Statement 21 CAUTION: Hazardous energy is present when the blade server is connected to the power source. Always replace the blade cover before installing the blade server. 3. Reinstall the blade server into the BladeCenter unit (see "Replacing the blade server in the BladeCenter unit" on page 29). 4. Turn on the blade server (see "Turning on the blade server" on page 9). 5. For certain options, run the blade server Configuration/Setup Utility program (see "Updating the blade server configuration"). Note: If you have just connected the power cords of the BladeCenter unit to electrical outlets, you must wait until the power-on LED on a blade server flashes slowly before pressing the power-control button on that blade server. Updating the blade server configuration When you start the blade server for the first time after you add or remove an internal option or an external SCSI device (if the storage expansion unit has been installed), you might see a message telling you that the configuration has changed. The blade server Configuration/Setup Utility program automatically starts so that you can save the new configuration information (see "Using the Configuration/Setup Utility program" on page 14). Some options have device drivers that you need to install. See the documentation that comes with the option for information about installing any required device drivers. The blade server comes with one or two microprocessors installed on the system board. If the blade server comes with two microprocessors, or the blade server comes with one microprocessor and you have installed an additional microprocessor, the blade server can now operate as an SMP server. Therefore, you might want to upgrade the operating system to support SMP (see Chapter 6, "Installing the operating system," on page 55 and the operating-system documentation). Input/output connectors and devices The input/output connectors available to the blade server are supplied by the BladeCenter unit. See the documentation that comes with the BladeCenter unit for information about the input/output connectors. The blade server has two selection buttons on the control panel: the CD/diskette/USB select button and the keyboard/mouse/video select button (see "Blade server controls and LEDs" on page 10). The Ethernet controllers on the blade server communicate with the network through the Ethernet-compatible switch modules on the BladeCenter unit. Network signals to and from the blade server or any I/O expansion cards are automatically routed to a same-network-interface switch module through circuitry in the BladeCenter unit. Chapter 5. Statement 21
CAUTION:
Hazardous energy is present when the blade server is connected to the power source.
Always replace the blade cover before installing the blade server.
3.
Reinstall the blade server into the BladeCenter unit (see “Replacing the blade
server in the BladeCenter unit” on page 29).
4.
Turn on the blade server (see “Turning on the blade server” on page 9).
5.
For certain options, run the blade server Configuration/Setup Utility program
(see “Updating the blade server configuration”).
Note:
If you have just connected the power cords of the BladeCenter unit to
electrical outlets, you must wait until the power-on LED on a blade server
flashes slowly before pressing the power-control button on that blade server.
Updating the blade server configuration
When you start the blade server for the first time after you add or remove an
internal option or an external SCSI device (if the storage expansion unit has been
installed), you might see a message telling you that the configuration has changed.
The blade server Configuration/Setup Utility program automatically starts so that
you can save the new configuration information (see “Using the Configuration/Setup
Utility program” on page 14).
Some options have device drivers that you need to install. See the documentation
that comes with the option for information about installing any required device
drivers.
The blade server comes with one or two microprocessors installed on the system
board. If the blade server comes with two microprocessors, or the blade server
comes with one microprocessor and you have installed an additional
microprocessor, the blade server can now operate as an SMP server. Therefore,
you might want to upgrade the operating system to support SMP (see Chapter 6,
“Installing the operating system,” on page 55 and the operating-system
documentation).
Input/output connectors and devices
The input/output connectors available to the blade server are supplied by the
BladeCenter unit. See the documentation that comes with the BladeCenter unit for
information about the input/output connectors.
The blade server has two selection buttons on the control panel: the
CD/diskette/USB select button and the keyboard/mouse/video select button (see
“Blade server controls and LEDs” on page 10).
The Ethernet controllers on the blade server communicate with the network through
the Ethernet-compatible switch modules on the BladeCenter unit. Network signals to
and from the blade server or any I/O expansion cards are automatically routed to a
same-network-interface switch module through circuitry in the BladeCenter unit.
