Beep code descriptions If POST or the BMC detects a problem during startup, it might emit one or more beep. You can use the following beep code descriptions to help diagnose and solve problems that are detected during startup. Beep codes indicating specific system problems are listed in the following tables. See "Diagnostics" in the BladeCenter HS40 Type 8839 Hardware Maintenance Manual and Troubleshooting Guide on the IBM BladeCenter Documentation CD or the IBM BladeCenter T Documentation CD that comes with your blade server for more information about the beep codes. Table 3. POST beep code descriptions Beep code Descriptions of the POST beep codes 1, 2, or 3 Memory error. Complete the following steps if this problem occurs: 1. Make sure that the memory modules are installed correctly. 2. Turn off the blade server; then, restart the blade server. If the problem remains, call for service. 6 and 7 System error.
