3.1 Checking the connection method 3 3 Manually Installing the Printer Driver (for Windows) 3.1 Checking the connection method In Windows Vista/7/8/Server 2008/Server 2008 R2/Server 2012 The installation method for the printer driver differs depending on the method used to connect this machine to the computer. When this machine is connected to the network, there are several printing protocols. The installation method for the printer driver also differs depending on the protocol. Installation method Connection method in which setup is possible using Add Printer Wizard Connection method in which plug and playbased setup is possible Connection method LPR A network connection using the LPR (Line Printer Re- mote) print service. It uses a TCP/IP protocol and the LPR printing port. • For the installation procedure, refer to page 3-4. Port 9100 A network connection using the PORT9100 print service. It uses a TCP/IP protocol and the RAW printing port. • For the installation procedure, refer to page 3-4. IPP/IPPS A network connection using the IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) print service.
